Info & exhibition center

Opening hours: Tuesday – Sunday 10 am – 4 pm

Learn more about animals, nature, geology, culture, the annual royal hunt, and get valuable tips for your excursions. The staff at our information center and exhibition are happy to show you their favorite hidden gems. For those with a sweet tooth, we offer coffee and treats in our café.

Exhibition

There is much to learn here, for both adults and children. About the history, animals, and the nature of the mountains. Explore our interactive exhibition! See the animals in their natural habitats, learn more about the mountains’ various plants and nature reserves, and get up close with the king of the forest, the moose. Experience, touch, and smell to uncover the secrets of the moose.

You can also join the fossil Grapto on a journey through the geological history of the mountains. Born 477 million years ago, Grapto has plenty of knowledge. Smell the petrified wood and trigger your own volcanic eruption. And what’s the story about the golden nail in the mountain?

Take a trip through time and experience the royal hunt that has been ongoing since 1351. Halle- & Hunneberg are rich in cultural history, inhabited since the Stone Age. Discover tales and myths about gods, kings, and moose, and find the gold treasure that has been hidden at the mountain’s base for thousands of years. In the echo-park exhibition, in collaboration with landowners Sveaskog, you can get tips on activity and excursions on the mountains.

Cafe and Shop

Enjoy a delicious treat! We offer a variety of coffee and sweets. During holidays and weekends, we also serve sandwiches. Did we mention ice cream? In our shop you can purchase products inspired by Swedish nature. Everything from plush animals to jewelry, paintings, and souvenirs.

Sights along the way
View over Lake Vänern

You can see Lake Vänern from the hills. At the top of Hallesnipen, you'll find Predikstolen, offering breathtaking views and a panorama of Sweden's largest lake.

Limestone Caves

Several locations on Halle- and Hunneberg feature cavities in the mountains. These are remnants of old limestone caves from the 1700s, where both limestone and slate were extracted. There are also remains of lime kilns and piles of burnt alum shale on the mountains. Explore the caves from the outside, as there is a significant risk of collapse.

The Rock Wall

Both Halleberg and Hunneberg consist of sandstone, alum shale, and diabase. It is the diabase cliffs that give the mountains their unique appearance. If you get tired of the vast views from the top of the mountains, it's just as beautiful to look up at the cliffs.

Waterfalls
